How much alcohol does it take to transform someone into a completely different person? A new study published in the journal Clinical Psychological Science reveals that it isn’t any amount of alcohol which changes who drinkers believe they are, but the drinker's’ perception of themselves. Two large groups of participants were split into smaller groups and were tasked with a trying task of group puzzles and games.

I’m an addict, I’m a gambling addict, I’m a sex addict, I’m a love addict, I’m a sex and love addict, I’m codependent, I’m an overeater, I have an eating disorder. When we introduce ourselves at twelve step meetings of any kind, we introduce ourselves in this way. We state our name and we follow it by identifying ourselves. Some people see the identification in twelve step meetings as a helpful tool for their personal program of recovery. Others see it as an intimidation or as unnecessary.

Once widely regarded as the sole treatment option for any kind of pain management necessities, doctors are now taking another careful look at opioids. Global death rates of opioid overdose have steadily risen in recent years, giving doctors a reason to reconsider their go-to prescriptions for pain management. Two men sat by a fire in Akron, Ohio, in the United States. One, a man named Bob Smith, was a doctor who was a chronic alcoholic. He had fallen ill as a result of alcoholism, yet again. His pastors and priests, as well as his wife and children thought him to be hopeless. That was until he had the infamous night of talking with Bill Wilson, a man who had been recovering from alcoholism without a drink for six months. Sharing stories of war, professionalism, and drunken debauchery, the men also told tales of recovery and hope. Before meeting, the men didn’t know each other.

Compared to 25 other countries in the Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children study by the Health Promotion Research Center, according to The Times UK, Irish schoolchildren have significantly healthier lifestyles. Nearly 75% of Irish children reported liking school, though 43% reported feeling high amounts of pressure from their school work. 50,000 students between the ages of 10 and 17 were surveyed by NUI Galway for the study.
