We are excited to host the first-ever Smarmore Castle reunion, on Sunday 11th September, in Recovery Month. This is a free event is for Smarmore Castle Alumni (former patients) as well as long-standing friends and staff of the clinic. We are sure that many of you will welcome the chance to come back to the place where your recovery started and see old friends and meet new ones.

The day will involve speeches from our Clinic Manager, Keith Cassidy, alumni, and guest speakers. Lunch and tea and coffee will be provided.
10 am – Tea, coffee, and biscuits

We are delighted to confirm our guest speaker, Dr. Steve, will be coming to us all the way from the United States.
Speaker bio:

Dr. Steve played CBGB and Max’s Kansas City in the late 70s; drank, played in a toy rock band and then got sober in the 80s; became an international social justice/diversity educator and rocker again in the 90s; and is now a sought after consultant, trainer, clinician, writer and meditation teacher.
Dr. Steve is the author of several books including Clinical Dharma: A Path for Healers and Helpers (2016), EMDR Therapy and Mindfulness for Trauma-Focused Care (coauthored with Jamie Marich, 2017), Mindfulness for Anger Management (2018) and coauthored Trauma and the 12 Steps: A Trauma Responsive Workbook, as well as Trauma and the 12 Steps: Daily Meditations & Reflections – both companion pieces to the updated Trauma and the 12 Steps by Dr. Jamie Marich.

All patients are reviewed by a consultant psychiatrist in the first week and we can diagnose and provide treatment for a number of co-occurring mental health conditions.
- How Long Is the Treatment Programme?
Our treatment programme starts at 4 weeks and is flexible in length, giving you the opportunity to extend for a longer period if you need it.
